The big C, part 3 of who knows.

It happened again.

I rarely write blog articles from the road. Obviously, I can’t write while I drive. I’m in a car park right now. I’ve just dropped my grandmother back at her flat and I’m sitting in the car park in my car and I’m typing this on my laptop because I don’t know what else to do.

We’ve just returned from the doctor’s office, because she had a sore on her ear that wasn’t healing. This ear has been the source of all sorts of problems recently.

Remember when I took her to the emergency department for what we thought was a spider bite? Well, there was a genuine infection, and that’s why the antibacterial ear drops helped restore her hearing. But that infection was not around a spider bite.

That infection was around a cancerous growth.

Yeah.

Cancer.

Again.

I had plans to write a really cute, fun article for today’s blog. And instead I’m writing it about cancer. It’s honestly not even the worst thing I could have heard. I’m trying to convince myself of the truth that this is going to prevent her from suffering the worse later stages of Alzheimer’s. She still vaguely remembers who most of us are, even if she doesn’t quite remember how or why. This is an act of mercy. I have to believe that.

But there were so many other ways to be shown mercy…
