The closing of a holiday weekend

I had hoped to have more to show for this weekend, since it was a three-day holiday weekend. I wrote a lot. I actually made progress on six separate volumes/arcs. So, in that way, it was quite good. I also managed to publish that RubyGem for random Dalmatian names. That is actually the first RubyGem I have ever published, even though I’ve enjoyed Ruby programming for 14 years. That was special, and even more special to have it be something I really care about!

But I wanted to draw and sketch. I wanted to try and dabble in storyboarding. I wanted to record some music stuff. I also wanted to make a dent in some code work I really should get going for one of the projects I’ve worked on for a long time, Adélie Linux.

I’m not really disappointed. It’s hard to be disappointed when I really did have a lovely holiday. Not only did I write so much, but I spent quality time with family and friends. I laughed and smiled a lot. And when writing volume 13, and seeing a special on the legacy of Kyle Busch, I cried, too. These are the things that really matter. Hopefully, it works out that I can do the other things next weekend.

Also, since I do presently live in the United States, it is Memorial Day, and I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that pretty much the entire free world is indebted to the heroes of the Armed Forces who gave life and limb defending it. I deeply appreciate their sacrifices for all of us. That doesn’t mean I agree with all the decisions of the leaders, and I certainly don’t think every single conflict was a conflict that needed to happen. But I remember the stories of my great uncle that served in the Great War aside the French. I think of him every Memorial Day. Those men (and women!) were true heroes and they are important to remember.
