Saturday included such an odd potpourri of things, and they were all quite enjoyable. I started with doing some research on my project for comparing C compilers for retro Macintosh computers. I’ve got a full list of the C99 features that I want to test support for now, and I’ve acquired the most important compiler versions I can find in the Garden to test with. Now it’s just a matter of writing the tests and running them.
I also worked somewhat on the documentation and specifications for that new project I want to work on with my honey. And I should perhaps give him a consistent name in this blog, instead of using all my pet names for him on each article…
The Premier League and American college football were both playing, so I got to see two of the sports teams I enjoy cheering on win! Arsenal won the UK footie, and the California Golden Bears won the US footie. Hooray!
My friend group got together for a comparatively-rare weekend watch party. I’m really enjoying The Owl House and can highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys coming-of-age stories or magic. Even if you don’t like one of those, I think the stories are written well enough that you can still enjoy it if you like the other!
Then I spent some quality time with my honey, designing our dream home… our Minecraft dream home, calm down everyone… which mostly consisted of him telling me all the decorative blocks our mod pack has, and me daydreaming in my head which ones would look good for walls, floors, and ceilings. I’m hoping to use marble as part of the outside. I know it’s posh, but it looks so pretty, I can’t help it. Dark oak planks with marble accents. Yes, that’s a nice house. I can’t wait to be able to start building it with him!
One of my friends has dared me to use Discord from an old computer, so I searched high and low for the CompactFlash card for my Toshiba laptop that has Windows NT 3.51 on it. I have yet to find it, but when I do, I am so winning that dare.
Also watched two episodes of Kim Possible with Mum. They look really good in 1080p. The last time I watched this series was on a 480p CRT TV on cable, haha. It’s a shame that the audio was desynced from the video in the episode Oh Boyz though. That is one of our favourite episodes. I don’t want to be a complex boy, boy, boy, boy…
And then I finally went back and did final editing on my 11th September post. That was just too much for me to handle that night. It is still traumatic for me to relive that day, though I think it gets a bit easier each year. Some years feel easier than others; this one felt particularly ouch, and I’m not sure if it’s because of the round “25 year” number, or if it’s because I’m in a really good in my life and can’t help but imagine that some of those victims were also where I am now, and they didn’t get to experience any more of it.
Well, that got unintentionally heavy! Let’s end this on a high note. I was closing some of my old browser tabs on my phone and I found a really cute artwork someone drew of one of my favourite characters from Bluey, Indy, with their friend Rusty. The artist would rather I not repost it, and I don’t want to link to the original as it’s on That Site, but here’s their Bluesky profile and here’s a link to the art on e926. It’s so cute!
