Taking a personal evening

Yesterday I didn’t do any Uber.* That was bad, and I know I should feel bad, but I just don’t. I needed an evening to be me.

I watched All Dogs Go to Heaven with the watch group. It was even better than I remembered. I laughed, I cried, it was definitely an experience.

I had sent one of my good friends a draft of one of the arcs – Arc 10, to be precise – and he enjoyed it. That made me smile a lot. It really makes me want to publish my works to a wider audience. I love these characters, and I want others to be able to read about them!

I played Minecraft with one of my friends, and that was fun. He has a server set up with a special resource pack I hadn’t seen before, which makes things look like candy. It was like the game Candy Land came to life – it was something to see!

Then, I was able to spend about an hour and a half on an art project. An actual art project! And it is almost finished. I am so happy that I am finally making this idea real. It is going to be amazing to actually show it to everyone.

And so far today, I’ve been able to get some work done at the Library that didn’t involve the memory leak. I wrapped up that work and went back to the memory leak, but hey, at least I remain useful. It’s reassuring, I suppose.

That thing from last week, the one I was going to write an article about, is still weighing on my mind. My friend and I had a long conversation, and they apologised for being insensitive – they even mostly took back what they said, which was surprising and nice. But the situation itself still weighs on me a lot. And I really need to write that article.

So until then I’m just sitting here at work, waiting for another memory profiler run to complete (it takes about 20 minutes to run), pretending everything is fine.

*: I did go online no Uber, but there were no fares after 15 minutes, so I gave up. Normally I don’t give up until much longer, and I usually end up with something. But last night I just didn’t want to take the time.
