It is always a huge honour for me when I win an award at work. It is nice to feel appreciated, and it truly warms my heart to know that I’ve made a true difference to our group. But this one hits different. This one really, really made me smile. Not just because of the prestige and honour – that was fantastic – but because of the name. There is no more perfect award I could possibly win, not if I worked in technology and/or libraries for fifty more years.
We did work on a very important project at the Library to dramatically improve the accessibility of our images to people with low vision. And our entire team has been awarded the Berkeley Special Project or Task award.
That’s right.
Your girl Spots has won a Spot Award.
I’m the proudest Dalmatian alive! My spots have been recognised!
Congratulations! It’s a very fitting award name for you. I’ve just read about what this award is and how to get it.
Timing & Amount:
I really liked this part — “Senior Management Group (SMG) members are not eligible for Spot or Achievement awards.” Because everywhere I’ve worked, all the good awards go to those who hold the highest positions. The higher the position, the more awards they will receive, regardless of their contribution to the work.
Also, this part — “…should be awarded as soon as possible after the accomplishment or event in order to provide immediate recognition to employees.” It also sounds great. Because where I work, it takes a very long time to receive prizes, and several months can pass before they are presented. I was also awarded a prize, but I’ve been waiting for 10 months and still haven’t received it.
Yeah. I really appreciate that Berkeley wants to recognise any level of staff for contributions. It is a very nice atmosphere to work.
Sorry to hear about your award being delayed and I hope you receive it soon!
