Security, AI, no music, pocket puppies?!

What a day, and it’s not even over yet. Came into work and found a bunch of Ruby libraries with CVEs in them, as one does when being alive in 2026. Started the remediation and found some inconsistencies in various automation and orchestration packages, both Library-wide and my own local dev scripts. That was lovely.

One of the social groups I participate in had another AI discussion. It’s always an AI discussion. Everywhere I go, it’s an AI discussion. I suppose once again, that’s just what one does when being alive in 2026. This week’s victim is rsync. I’m hoping there will be a solution that pops up, but for now, I am pushing as hard as I can to have Adélie ship the version with the security vulnerability. Because the (vibe coded, slop) fix actually breaks so many other unrelated things, it becomes unusable as a utility, and then why are we even shipping it?

The watch group I’m in has added Puppy in My Pocket to our list of things. That happened last week, actually, but I’m just writing about it now because it fascinates me on so many levels. The animation and design remind me so much of very early 2000s, direct-to-video animation. The pacing moves extremely fast, like modern present-day Internet-born series. And yet it was actually made in 2010, right in the middle! I don’t even know what to think. What a trip. Honestly, I should start reviewing some of the things we watch. I will say that if you like weird Western magical girl shows that have a focus on dogs and cats (and a plot that is somehow both simple and really challenging to follow), you might want to give it a go.

And finally, today is supposed to be the day I release the “Music I Discovered” for May, but I haven’t finished it yet. I didn’t find much good music until the 29th, so I didn’t have all month to collect my thoughts gradually like I usually do. That will come, eventually…

Хороший улов! Далматинец в мультсериале “Щенок в моем кармане” носит ошейник, который очень похож на ошейник Дага.
