So happy to see the Bears win. But oof, that Sunday Night Football though. It’s been a bad time to be a Lions fan. I know it seems odd to be a fan of multiple NFC North teams, but I like having multiple teams to root for! It’s fun.
I found another really interesting project in the AI gig work and I’m excited to see that continue to do really well. I’m going to be in a much better place in the months ahead, and that is setting up to make life so much better!
In my Library work, we had more struggles with bot attacks. We are all brainstorming ways to handle, and hopefully defeat, the attacks. Meanwhile, I spent over an hour poking at JavaScript stuff that was annoying me. On a whim, knowing we have access to Codex via Berkeley IT, I installed it on my work machine and asked it for its opinion. It took about 7 seconds to tell me what I was looking for was already present, as an optional method to a function I didn’t look at close enough. Face: paw. I suppose there are some decent uses for these things.
Something else happened this morning. And I’m going to talk more about it tomorrow, because it’s a lot heavier than my normal subject. It’s actually heavy enough that I’m going to mention a bit of a content warning ahead of it and at the top of it.
I was talking with my sweetie about stuff I used to do before I was swamped with two jobs and such. We actually have more in common than I knew, which is amazing because I already knew we had a lot in common! And I started talking about 2016. And we came to the time when I had my last real break-up. It was the 29th of December.
Discussing that and the situation around it has led me to realise that I was in an abusive relationship. I didn’t even really realise it at the time. I don’t think either one of us intended any of what ended up happening. But wow, it was bad.
I think it’s really important for others to read my experience and story. I want to help others recognise the warning signs of an unhealthy relationship. If I can save even one animal from what I went through, it’s all worth it…
But at the same time, I know that this sort of subject matter can be really disturbing to others. So I want to warn you ahead of time that I’m going to be discussing verbal and mental abuse in the next article. You can and should skip it if you don’t want to read about that. Nobody will be upset at you and you do not need to 100% a blog. It is absolutely okay to not read it. The other thing I would hate to do is to hurt you, dear reader, by exposing you to things you can’t handle. The cute Dalmatian living her best life will return after that article!
But it’s really important for the cute Dalmatian to tell how she was mistreated before, too.
