I mentioned in April that I had started rearranging the office and was going to take some photos. I wanted to finish first, since I was still in the process of figuring out which Macs I was going to put in the cubbies. I can’t believe it took this long, but I finally finished late this morning!
I was preoccupied with some other things so I still haven’t managed to take a photo yet. But it is done, and it’s all working, so that is progress. I can actually use my vintage Macs again!
On the top shelf is my Power Macintosh 7100/80AV, with a 17″ ColorSync CRT atop it. That CRT and its ADB cable are the only two things I need to juggle to make the set up work with any of the other Macs in the cubbies, which makes it very convenient!
As for the cubbies: In the top one is my ThinkPad 385ED, which I still can’t use because the hard drive caddy has a stripped screw and I can’t remove it for the life of me. (Suggestions welcome.) Directly below that is my Performa 6214CD, and below that one is my Performa 476 atop my Macintosh IIci.
Below that are some Mac minis that I still need to set up to run headless. What I’d really like to do with the Mac minis is to set them up as “CI runners” for various open source things. Especially since one of them is a Core Duo (32-bit only) system, it’d definitely be an interesting use of the hardware, and hopefully help the wider community. And finally, next to them is my Gateway Motion M1300 tablet PC. I was so excited to finally have one, yet I’ve still never found the time to even play with it, outside of testing that it works when I got it in 2022…
