Hi! I’m Anna, also known as Spots. I was born and raised in the Midwestern US (Illinois), but I’m culturally Welsh/English – and the accent is a dead giveaway. And I’m a Dalmatian at heart!
From a young age, I’ve had two passions in life. One is a passion for technology. I’ve worked at various startups, IBM, and co-founded a software engineering consultancy. My open source contributions are vast and numerous, as are my technological interests. Presently, I work at UC Berkeley in Library IT, where I focus on accessibility enhancements, solutions architecture and engineering, and integrating artificial intelligence in a responsible and useful manner.
My other, and far more important, passion is for animals. I care for three cats, whom are all rescues. I am working towards a veterinary degree. It is my hope to be able to combine my passions to create a better world for animals and the people who love them.
During downtime, I have been working on writing a series of graphic novels. They are set primarily in two places that are completely fictional: Oklahoma and London. I enjoy musical pursuits, including singing, piano, and guitar. I’m trying to get my paws back into illustration as well – nominally for the graphic novel series – we’ll have to see where that leads!
