Yesterday I did more of the gig work and am feeling more confident about it! I also managed to gather some more screenshots from Minecraft, and I have them all ready for eventual inclusion on the gallery I want to set up. That is going to be a fun project!
It was equally a blast to watch the Chiefs win on the road this afternoon! Especially when they were playing a Florida team; I still don’t much care for Florida. After the game was over, my boyfriend and I had planned to do a little Minecraft before I went to the markets. I opened the launcher on my Mac and waited the agonising 10 minutes for Java to do Java things. Just as the world was doing its initial draw, and I hopped on voice chat with my boyfriend, I was accosted.
The cats need their food! The store is going to close!
The market was open for another four hours; I only planned to do this two hours. It just felt rude and disrespectful. The thought would never cross my mind to interrupt someone else like that. I’m 35! I have demonstrated many times over that I am responsible and able to manage time properly. I work two jobs, it’s pretty much a necessity at this point…
I don’t think it’s so much to ask for a little respect, but I have no idea how to assert myself in a situation like that. I don’t want to speak out of anger, and I don’t want to accost right back. I’m normally really good at de-escalating, but not in this scenario. When I feel disrespected, it clouds my ability to think. I get so upset and I feel like I want to shout and cry at the same time.
So I simply barked. As in, like the dog I truly am. I barked back. Woof. I grabbed my phone, and showed the store would close in four hours.
Yeah, but what if they’re out of stock! You won’t have time to go to another one!
I finally just did an online order for pickup, and that seemed to satiate her, but I feel like I gave in. I feel like I rewarded the behaviour I don’t want to happen again. Oh, dear reader, what I would do to get a little respect…
