Last night, I cried. But I wasn’t sad at all. I don’t know when I’ve been so happy.
It was just the realisation that I genuinely am a good dog, and have been blessed with amazing friends that each bring their own unique goodness to the world as well. I could name any number of them right here, but it wouldn’t be fair to the ones I didn’t… and my storage allocation only gives me 5 GB per post! Alright, I don’t have that many friends, but still.
My life feels so full and lovely and wonderful right now. Even through the financial hardships and the health issues we’re facing, I can’t even get down about those. They’re temporary. Minor bumps in life, that are easily handled as long as I have the love and support of my pack.
Mmm. Pack. I’m a pack animal. And it’s been a long time since I’ve felt like I belonged. I have exactly two friends that reach back to the 2000s decade, and a paw-full from the 2010s. And as my longest friends, they of course mean the most to me. But the connections I’ve made recently feel so much stronger than the shallower ones from the past that didn’t last. They feel more genuine. Because I am being my authentic self, and I have a sense that my friends are too. We allow each other to feel comfortable enough to do that.
This has been one of the best, warmest years of my entire life. And if we have talked for more than a few minutes in the last few months on Discord, Telegram, Zoom, iMessage, Signal, or in-person – you’re part of why, and you mean so much to me. Genuinely.
